A 26-year-old Vallejo man was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of assaulting his girlfriend’s 3-year-old son in September, Vallejo police said today. The Police Department was notified Sept. 19 of a boy who had suffered a broken femur. The child was taken to a local hospital before being transported to Children’s Hospital Oakland. Officers learned the boy’s mother was working when he was injured and the child was being watched by his mother’s boyfriend, police said. Investigators interviewed the boyfriend, Archie Lee Sanders IV, who they suspected had assaulted the boy, police said. Police sought a warrant for Sanders’ arrest and took him into custody Wednesday on suspicion of felony child abuse and assault, police said. He was booked into the Solano County jail.Although no other children were injured, the Solano County Child Protective Services placed other children associated with the family under protective custody immediately after the incident was reported, according to police. The victim’s mother has cooperated with police and is not a suspect in the investigation.
