* Phillip Wright Identified As 16-Year-Old Shooting Victim Of Oakland High School In His Home At 9404 Oscar Ave.

Police have identified Thursday’s 16-year-old shooting victim as Oakland High School student Phillip Wright. At about 5:10 p.m. Thursday, police responded to reports of a shooting in the 9400 block of Oscar Avenue. There they found Wright lying on the floor of his home at 9404 Oscar Ave., Oakland police Officer Jeff Thomason said. Thomason said it appears Wright was shot while answering a knock at the door. Gunmen standing outside the home shot through the door, hitting Wright. He was taken to Highland Hospital,where he was pronounced dead, Thomason said. The motive is under investigation. No suspects have been arrested.Wright is the city’s 97th homicide this year.
