The Newark Police Department is seeking the public’s help in identifying the man in this surveillance photograph. Detective David Higbee reports that on June 13th 2009, at about 9:15 PM, this man entered the Shell Gas Station on Jarvis Avenue. He was on his cell phone when he walked up to the cash register counter. Once at the counter he selected a pack of gum and placed it on the counter with a dollar. When the clerk opened the cash register the suspect allegedly pointed the gun at him and said, “Give me all the money.” When the clerk refused, the Suspect ran out of the store and was last seen running through the Burger King parking lot. The Suspect is described as being a black male, approximately 18 to 21 years of age, approximately 5 feet 6 inches, approximately 160 pounds. He was wearing a navy blue “SF” baseball hat with “San Francisco” stitched in white lettering on the back and a black hoodie sweatshirt with a “kangaroo pouch.” The back of the sweatshirt had a screen print of a male subject and the words “Rest in Peace” above it. He was also wearing blue jeans and red and white Nike basketball shoes.
