* TV Drama Series Trauma to be Filmed in Downtown Oakland Will Have Simulated Bank Robbery & Police Swat Team

NBC Universal will be filming scenes for the new drama series “Trauma” in downtown Oakland that will simulate a bank robbery at the intersection of Broadway and 21st Street on Tuesday, November 10 and Wednesday, November 11, 2009.
Filmed in cooperation with the Oakland Film Office and the Oakland Police Department, the episode titled “Tunnel Vision” will be directed by Darnell Martin (Cadillac Records, Law and Order). The stars include Derek Luke (”Notorious”), Cliff Curtis (”10,000 B.C”), Anastasia Griffith (”Damages”), Aimee Garcia (”George Lopez”), Kevin Rankin (”Friday Night Lights”) with Jamey Sheridan (”Law & Order: Criminal Intent). Throughout filming on both days, there will be intermittent traffic stoppages at the intersection of Broadway and 21st Street place taking place from 7.a.m. – 5p.m.  In addition, 21st Street will be closed to through traffic on both days so that the production can set a helicopter, SWAT team van, ambulance, and other law enforcement and emergency vehicles for the filming.  There will also be many actors portraying SWAT team members, police officers, and other emergency service providers in the area, and a few on rooftops with simulated firearms in the vicinity of Broadway and 21st Street.  Authorities have instructed that people in the area SHOULD NOT CALL 911 to report the activity.
Filming will continue on Thursday November 12 inside a closed bank at Broadway & 21st Street however there will not be a heavy simulated law enforcement presence on that day.  The Oakland Police Department, the Oakland Fire Department, the CHP and other emergency service departments for the City of Oakland have been notified in advance of this permitted filming.
