A 17-year-old Aptos boy was arrested in Santa Cruz Thursday for possession of a dangerous weapon and fighting in public after officers responded to a reported gang fight, according to Santa Cruz police.   At about 1:50 p.m. Thursday, officers responded to reports of a fight involving a bat in the 500 block of Caledonia Street, police said.  As officers arrived, the suspects involved in the fight were seen getting into vehicles and fleeing. Some of the officers set up a perimeter around the area and stopped one of the vehicles believed to be involved in the fight, according to police. The 17-year-old occupant of the vehicle was discovered to be a Sureño gang member who was on probation.  A search revealed that the boy had a dagger concealed in his waistband, and a baseball bat wrapped with electrical tape and a blue bandana was found in the trunk of the vehicle, police said.  The suspect was arrested and booked into juvenile hall.  No other participants in the fight were located by police. Please call the Fugitive Watch hot line at 1-800-9-CAUGHT (1-800-922-8448) or text at 408-355-0999 if you have any information that can help solve this crime.
