A 21-year-old man with a mental disability reported missing in Belmont Sunday night was spotted in South San Francisco Thursday, according to police.  Shant Furuli-Vogt’s family was visiting Belmont from the town of Calabasas in Southern California. His parents have not seen him since about 9:30 p.m. Sunday, when they dropped him off at an AM/PM Mini Market at 470 Ralston Ave. to buy a few items. Furuli-Vogt’s parents told police that Shant, sometimes called “Shanti” was supposed to walk back to their room at a nearby Motel 6. He never returned from the market.  On Friday, Belmont police investigators received word that Furuli-Vogt was seen Thursday on Grand Avenue in South San Francisco. Witnesses spotted his multi-colored patchwork baseball cap, but said the man was wearing a brown jacket, rather than the white suit jacket he had on when he disappeared. The missing man is also wearing black jean shorts and white tennis shoes. He may state his last name as simply “Vogt”. Furuli-Vogt is white and has brown hair and blue eyes. He is 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighs 140 pounds.  Police believe Furuli-Vogt may be headed to San Francisco’s Haight-Ashbury neighborhood. He has no access to money or credit cards, and has a mental age of about 15 years old, according to police. Furuli-Vogt takes medication, but police do not believe the missing man has any with him. Belmont police are working with authorities in South San Francisco and other agencies to locate Furuli-Vogt. Anyone who may have seen the man should call 911 or a local police station. Belmont police can be reached at (650) 595-7400.
