Officers learned that Baskom was walking down the street and got into an argument with the suspect, Oakland police spokesman Jeff Thomason said. When the argument escalated the suspect pulled out a firearm and shot Baskom. Medical personnel arrived and transported Baskom to Highland Hospital, where doctors pronounce him dead. There have been 93 homicides in Oakland this year.
