* Anthony Lopez Was Killed In San Jose On Alum Rock Avenue By DUI Driver

The Santa Clara County medical examiner’s office has identified a 54-year-old San Jose man who died in a crash in San Jose Friday night.Anthony Lopez was killed in the two-vehicle crash, which was reported shortly after 7:30 p.m. near the intersection of Alum Rock and Foss avenues, according to the medical examiner’s office.Lopez was driving a 2004 blue Saturn Vue with a 37-year-old female passenger, and the vehicle was stopped on eastbound Alum Rock Avenue at the intersection with Voss Avenue, according to San Jose police.A 58-year-old Milpitas man was driving a silver Mercedes ML500 and traveling east at a high rate of speed on Alum Rock Avenue when the vehicle rear-ended the Saturn, police said.Lopez was pronounced dead as a result of injuries suffered in the crash, according to police.The female passenger was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries, while the driver of the Mercedes was transported to a local hospital with major injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening, police said.Two dogs that were in the Mercedes were not injured, and have been handed over to animal control. Alcohol or drugs were “definitely a factor” in the crash, which remains under investigation, police Sgt. Ronnie Lopez said.
