* Gilroy Bank Robber James Collins Arrested For Robbing Bank Of America At 7825 Monterey Road

A 59-year-old man was arrested after allegedly robbing a Bank of America in Gilroy this afternoon, according to police.The robbery was reported at about 1:10 p.m. at the bank located at 7825 Monterey Road, police said. Collins, a transient, allegedly entered the bank and gave a teller a note demanding money.The teller complied and gave Collins an undisclosed amount of money, according to police. No one was injured during the robbery.Collins then fled on foot from the bank, and police were notified of the robbery. He was arrested without incident near the intersection of First and Monterey streets and the money stolen from the bank was recovered, police said.Collins was booked into Santa Clara County jail for bank robbery.Gilroy police investigating the incident have contacted the FBI, and further investigation will be done to determine with Collins has committed any other robberies that are unsolved.Anyone with information is asked to contact Gilroy police Detective Stanley Devlin at (408) 846-0350.
