A 35-year-old man was fatally shot in his car Saturday night in Richmond, a police sergeant said today. Officers responded to Alamo Avenue and Cherry Street just before 8:30 p.m. and found Gabriel Schroeder suffering from gunshot wounds in the driver’s seat of his car, Richmond police Sgt. T. Ellis said. Schroeder was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger riding in his car was uninjured, according to Ellis. No suspect information was available and a motive has not been established, Ellis said. The shooting occurred near railroad tracks and in the same area where at least four other people have been murdered since February, though Ellis said the homicides are not believed to be related.
