Sonoma County sheriff’s deputies are searching for a 38-year-old Mendocino County man who allegedly fatally shot a Cloverdale man at a metal warehouse just north of the city Friday afternoon. At about 4 p.m., deputies responded to Cooley Lane in unincorporated Sonoma County north of Cloverdale on a report that there was a gunshot victim at a warehouse that is designed to store vineyard equipment and machinery. They found the victim, Santos Alvarez, in a vehicle bay near the warehouse. Deputies also reportedly found processed marijuana in the warehouse. A witness who knows the suspect, Augustin Alvarez Pena, gave the detectives his name. Detectives went Pena’s home in Potter Valley. A firearm was recovered at the home, according to the sheriff’s department. Pena’s vehicle is a black 2001 Nissan Frontier that has orange fender flames and a yellow horizontal stripe on the doors. The license plate number is: 6R27049.
