UPDATE-ARRESTED

Ariel Cabeza was arrested in San Mateo. He was in his ex-girlfriend’s house in the 800 block of Ada Street, said South San Francisco Police Cpl. Elena Dominguez-Brennan. Cabeza was found hiding in a locked bedroom and arrested without incident.

ORIGINAL STORY

Police are looking for a suspected Norteno gang member believed to be responsible for shooting a man in the head in South San Francisco early Thursday morning.A 28-year-old San Francisco man was reportedly shot with a small caliber revolver by Ariel Cabeza, 23, at around 1:30 a.m., according to the South San Francisco Police Department. The victim was taken to a hospital in critical condition.Witnesses to the shooting identified Cabeza as the gunman, and the attempted homicide is being investigated as gang related, according to police.Officers reported finding Cabeza’s vehicle in San Leandro, and announced the suspect could be in the San Mateo area or in South San Francisco. He is considered armed and dangerous.Anyone with information regarding Cabeza or the shooting is asked to contact the South San Francisco Police Department at (650) 877-8900.
