* Theodore Collins Arrested By Oakland After Fatal Drunk Driving Crash That Killed Passenger Richard Davis

Oakland police have arrested a man believed to have been involved in a fatal drunken driving crash in the city on Sunday night, police spokesman Jeff Thomason said today.The crash happened at about 9 p.m. at the intersection of 90th Avenue and MacArthur Boulevard.The driver, later identified as 22-year-old Oakland resident Theodore Collins, was allegedly speeding east in a 1992 Chevy Lumina on MacArthur Boulevard when he lost control of the car and crashed into a tree. Collins fled before police arrived, but a passenger riding in the back of the car was trapped, Thomason said.Oakland firefighters responded to the crash along with police and removed the passenger, later identified as 22-year-old Oakland resident Richard Davis.Davis was transported to Highland Hospital, where he died from his injuries, Thomason said.While police were investigating the crash, Collins, who allegedly appeared to be drunk, showed up at the hospital seeking medical treatment.He was treated for his injuries and arrested on suspicion of felony drunken driving with injury or death,gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and hit-and-run with injuries, Thomason said.
