The San Carlos Police Department announced this week that a sergeant within the department has been selected to become its new police commander. Mark Robbins, a 25-year veteran of the department, was appointed to the position after Commander Richard Cinfio announced his retirement last month. Robbins was hired as a police officer in San Carlos in 1984. He has served as a patrol officer, traffic officer, detective, and has led teams on special details with the San Mateo County Gang Task Force and Narcotics Task Force.  He was promoted to sergeant in 1999 and has served as a patrol sergeant, traffic sergeant and detective sergeant. “Sergeant Robbins is well respected throughout San Mateo County as a top notch police professional, and I am proud to have him become part of my administration team,” San Carlos police Chief Greg Rothaus said in a statement. Rothaus is expected to officially appoint Robbins to the position by the end of November.
