* Germaine Benjamin The Skyline College Shooting Suspect Is Arrested Again In San Francisco Unrelated Charges

The Skyline College student suspected of shooting another student on campus last month was recently arrested in San Francisco on unrelated charges of making criminal threats, a San Francisco assistant district attorney said today.Germaine Benjamin, 18, was arrested in San Francisco’s Bayview District on Sept. 25 for allegedly making criminal threats to a security guard, San Francisco Assistant District Attorney Brian Buckelew said.Benjamin pleaded not guilty to the charges on Sept. 30, and a judge set his bail at $200,000. He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in San Francisco Superior Court Tuesday for a preliminary hearing, Buckelew said.Benjamin is also facing a charge in San Mateo County Superior Court of bringing a firearm onto a campus in connection with the shooting of 20-year-old Eric Brewer at about 1:30 p.m. Sept. 2 in a parking lot on the Skyline College campus.Benjamin pleaded not guilty to that charge on Sept. 4 and posted $50,000 bail the next day, San Mateo County Assistant District Attorney Karen Guidotti said.Buckelew said today it is likely that Benjamin’s San Francisco case will proceed first.Brewer, the shooting victim, has been charged with being a gang member in possession of a gun in connection with the Sept. 2 shooting. He was arraigned Sept. 18 and is scheduled to appear in court Oct. 29 for a preliminary hearing. He is in custody in lieu of $100,000 bail.
