* Jerry Pough Sr Arrested In Oakland After Car Chase And Shooting Death Of His Son Jerry Pough Jr In Las Vegas

An Oakland man who was arrested after a car chase from San Leandro to Oakland on Friday night is awaiting extradition to Las Vegas to face charges that he murdered his son there on Sept. 20.Jerry Pough Sr., 53, is being held without bail in Alameda County jail in Dublin and is scheduled to be arraigned at the Hayward Hall of Justice on Wednesday on a charge of evading police.San Leandro police spokesman Lt. Pete Ballew said Officer Dennis Mally tried to pull over Pough at East 14th and Harlan streets at 8:16 p.m. Friday after noticing that Pough was driving a wanted vehicle, a Chevrolet HHR that had been rented from Budget Rent-A-Car.Mally was parked in a license-plate reader patrol vehicle, which is equipped with cameras that automatically scan the license plates of parked and moving vehicles, Ballew said.Pough accelerated instead of pulling over, and Mally and another officer chased him for 12 minutes, Ballew said. Pough drove north on Interstate Highway 880 and then exited in Oakland, Ballew said,Pough drove 40 mph in a 25-mph zone and then crashed into a chain-link fence at Edes and Douglas avenues, Ballew said.No one was injured in the crash and Pough was arrested without incident, he said.There was only minor damage to the car, Ballew said.Ballew said Pough is wanted in Las Vegas for the shooting death of his son, 31-year-old Jerry Pough Jr., on Sept. 20.Las Vegas police weren’t immediately available for comment on the shooting and the status of their bid to have Pough Sr. extradited.
