Gilroy police are searching for a suspect who shot a 35-year-old victim multiple times Saturday night in an incident that is being investigated as possibly gang related, police said. At 11:31 p.m. Saturday, police responded to a call of shots fired near E. Seventh and Chestnut streets, according to the Gilroy Police Department. A shooting victim was located soon after. The victim told police he was confronted near E. Seventh and Chestnut streets and shot several times, Gilroy police said. The victim escaped and sought safety at a nearby residence. He was taken to a local hospital with injuries that were not expected to be life threatening, police said. No arrests have been made, and the suspect has not been identified. Although a motive was not immediately know, police said they are investigating the crime as possibly gang related. The suspect was described as a man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and pants.
