Police in San Jose have arrested a registered sex offender who allegedly visited a local elementary school several times without disclosing his status, and may have had contact with students. Jeffrey Minkin, 46, of San Jose was taken into custody Wednesday, police said. It is illegal for registered sex offenders to enter school grounds without identifying themselves and registering their presence. Police detectives say Minkin may have had contact with students during repeated visits to Farnham Elementary School in San Jose. These visits occurred during and after school hours, according to police. Police also said that juveniles attended “sleepovers” at Minkin’s home, although they have no evidence that anything inappropriate happened at these gatherings. Police would like to talk to anyone with additional information on Minkin’s activities at any school. Anyone with information should contact Det. Sean Morgan at (408) 277-4290.
