A shooting in east Oakland left one person wounded Friday night, police said. Oakland police units responded to a report of shots fired in the 6200 block of Avenal Avenue at around 8 p.m., a patrol officer said. One victim was found suffering a gunshot wound and was hospitalized for treatment. The injury was not expected to be life threatening, police said. No one was taken into custody, and further suspect information was not immediately available.
