American Canyon police have released an updated description of the man who robbed a Subway sandwich shop in the Canyon Plaza on Thursday afternoon. Police Chief Brian Banducci said the suspect is a light-skinned male, possibly Hispanic, 5 feet 7 inches to 5 feet 9 inches with a medium build. He was wearing black jeans, a black T-shirt with a red logo, black knit hat and black shoes with white vertical stripes, Banducci said. The robber entered the front door of the store at 3417 Broadway around 3:50 p.m. and went through a door leading to the food preparation area in the back of the restaurant, Banducci said. The suspect tied up a female clerk and took money from a drop box or register and left on foot through the plaza, Banducci said. A weapon, not a gun, was displayed but there were no injuries. The suspect was possibly seen 30 minutes before the robbery loitering in the parking area. Two children playing catch with a football in the parking area and customers who were in the store before police arrived may have seen the suspect, Banducci said. Banducci said the suspect does not match the description of the armed man who robbed the Subway sandwich shop Wednesday night in Fairfield.
