Former Carmel doctor Carl Bergstrom, who was convicted in July on multiple counts of sexual assault, was sentenced Friday to six years in federal prison, according to the Monterey County District Attorney’s office.  A jury convicted Bergstrom, 53, on July 27 of forcibly sodomizing two women, according to the DA’s office. Bergstrom’s medical license has been suspended since his conviction.  Judge Russell Scott handed down the sentence. He had previously denied Bergstrom’s request for a new trial.  During the sentencing hearing, one victim told the courtroom she would leave with her, “Name, pride restored and my head held high knowing the truth has been told, the truth was heard and believed, and justice was served.”  Scott told Bergstrom he was a sexual predator who does not stop when he wants something.
