* Marquita Sturns Identified As Women Killed In Hayward Car Accident Into A House

A 26-year-old woman who died after she crashed a Ford Explorer into the side of a Hayward house early this morning has been identified as Marquita Latoya Sturns, according to the Alameda County coroner’s bureau.The 12:50 a.m. collision also left her 19-year-old male passenger injured, Hayward police Sgt. Jeff Lutzinger said.Sturns, a San Leandro resident, was driving the SUV west on Sleepy Hollow Avenue when the SUV struck a curb and traveled across the front yard of a home at the corner of Sleepy Hollow and Portsmouth avenues,Lutzinger said.The vehicle rolled over and the roof slammed into the side of the house, trapping the woman in the car, according to Lutzinger.She was pronounced dead at the scene, and the teenage passenger was transported to Eden Medical Center in Castro Valley with moderate injuries, Lutzinger said.No one in the home was injured.”It was very messy,” said Lutzinger of the crash scene. Authorities found alcohol in the car and it is believed to be a factor in the collision, Lutzinger said.Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or who has information is asked to call Hayward police Traffic Officer Mulhern at (510) 293-7011.
