* Victor Sims And Dimani Collins Arrested For Armed Robbery By Santa Cruz Police

Two men were arrested Wednesday for two separate armed robberies in Santa Cruz and Capitola earlier this week, according to Santa Cruz police.Victor Lamont Sims, 36, of Redwood City, and Dimani Collins, 35, of East Palo Alto were arrested for the robberies, which occurred within about 45 minutes of each other Tuesday night, police said.At about 11:45 p.m., an armed robbery was reported in the 100 block of Sycamore Street, according to police. Arriving officers were told by the victim that two men had demanded money while one displayed a black handgun, according to police.The suspects eventually fled with the victim’s wallet, cell phone, and other personal items, police said.About 45 minutes earlier, an armed robbery had occurred near the corner of Monterey Avenue and Lawn Way in Capitola, according to police.In that robbery, two men approached a 23-year-old man and 23-year-old woman who were sitting on a bench, police said.A suspect displayed a handgun and both men demanded money from the victims. The suspects were seen fleeing in what appeared to be a white or cream-colored Cadillac, according to police.At about 10:50 p.m. Wednesday, a Capitola police officer spotted a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle, which was driving on southbound state Highway 17 near Ocean Street, police said.The officer stopped the vehicle in the 1500 block of Ocean Street, and Collins and Sims were detained.Both men matched the descriptions of the suspects involved in the robberies, and in a search of the vehicle, authorities found a replica handgun, ski masks, and stolen property linked to the Santa Cruz robbery, according to police.Both men were booked into Santa Cruz County Jail for possession of stolen property, police said.Anyone with additional information about the case is asked to contact the investigations section of the Santa Cruz Police Department at (831) 420-5820,or the investigations unit of the Capitola Police Department at (831) 475-4242.
