A man suspected of the armed robbery of the West America Bank in American Canyon was arrested Monday afternoon at a hotel in Washington D.C., the Napa County Sheriff’s Office said.Capt. Tracey Stuart said Marcel Jones, 22, a transient in the
American Canyon area, was arrested without incident around 12:30 p.m. Pacific time by the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force.Stuart said the sheriff’s office received a tip that Jones was in Washington D.C.Jones is suspected of robbing the bank on Aug. 24 around 1:30 p.m. Stuart said there was a $500,000 warrant for Jones’ arrest.

The Napa County Sheriff’s Office identified a suspect Friday afternoon in the robbery of the West America Bank in American Canyon last month. Marcel Jones, 22, a previous resident of American Canyon, is suspected of robbing the bank around 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 24, the sheriff’s office said. He was wearing a black thigh-length leather coat, dark jeans and was carrying a backpack. Jones is 5 feet 8 inches and 145 pounds and has ties to the City of Napa, Oakland and Sacramento, the sheriff’s office said. Jones also has a history of using public transit systems, the sheriff’s office said. He is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached, the sheriff’s office said.
