Police are asking witnesses to come forward after a man was fatally shot Saturday night in the Cortez Stege area of Richmond in the city’s fifth homicide since Thursday, according to Richmond police. At about 11:48 p.m. Saturday, officers responded to a reported shooting in the 2800 block of Virginia Avenue, police said. They found the victim at the southeast corner of South 28th Street and Virginia Avenue, and the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspects fled and have not been identified, and the motive for the shooting is still under investigation, police said. This was the city’s fifth homicide since Thursday and the 41st homicide of the year.
