A former Pleasanton man who falsely claimed that he was a three-time Oscar-winning sound designer has pleaded guilty to charges that he defrauded investors out of more than $4 million. Brice Carrington, 46, who now lives in Ojai, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Oakland Friday to wire fraud and tax evasion in connection with the investment fraud scheme, according to U.S. Attorney Joseph Russoniello and Internal Revenue Service Special Agent in Charge Scott O’Briant. The plea agreement calls for Carrington to serve four years in federal prison and pay nearly $4.2 million in restitution when he is sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge D. Lowell Jensen on Jan. 8.In pleading guilty, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office, Carrington admitted that lured investors by telling them that he was well-established in the entertainment industry and had been involved in many Hollywood productions. To add credibility to his claims, Carrington paid a jeweler to make an Oscar statuette and also had another fake statuette, according to prosecutors. The U.S. Attorney’s office said Carrington displayed the fake Oscar statuettes and photographs of himself with the statuettes in his home during investor fundraising parties In addition, Carrington used investors’ money without their knowledge to buy three luxury cars — a Lamborghini Murcielago, a Hummer H2 and a Mercedes SL 500R – and used them as props to help lure new investors into investing money with him, prosecutors said.According to prosecutors, Carrington received about $4,042,480 from investors but used no more than $430,000 of those funds toward designing sound effects.Carrington also admitted that he failed to report $581,500 in gross receipts on his 2003 tax return and instead filed a false Form 1040 reporting zero taxes owed, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office. • Well he must’ve cheated on his wife b/c I had a friend who went on a few dates with him. After the second date, she new he was a con artist. He kept bragging about his three freaking oscars, Snakes on a Plane, and how he dated all of these celebrity women. He also walked around like he was God’s greatest gift. What a loser!

  • You should see brice now. He’s writing a book in prison about the bible and has a publisher. Make sure you get your money from him.

  • I knew Brice Carrington was a piece of shit the first time I laid eyes on him I just couldn’t put my finger on it though I at least didn’t give him any of my money KARMA IS A MOTHER DUCKER!!
He held his head so high like he was just the #$it DUCK YOU BRICE YOU BIG FRUAD YOU I’LL BE LAUGHING AT YOU FOR AT LEAST THE REST OF MY LIFE YOU STUPID DUCK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • My wife and I also invested our hard-earned money in Ultimate FX. I can’t even begin to tell you what turmoil we went through after we invested our hard-earned money in Brice and money never materialized. We were not priviledged people who had “extra” money to invest, we invested our life savings. I would like to be contacted by the prosecuting attorneys to determine how we can recoup our losses. I just want the return of the hundreds of thousands of dollars that we gave him. What is so bad is he played on the fact that we are Christians. God help him for using His name and this faith in vain. I hope Carolyn (if that is his wife’s real name) isn’t a part of this. It’s no wonder we could never become friends. She probably couldn’t stomach what Brice was doing to us. The Lambroghini….we paid for that I’m sure. Brice showed up at my house within a few months of our investment and he was driving up in his new Lambroghini! I was shocked, but was reassured by the con-man that this was NOT our money….I guess it was. What gall!

How do victims get in contact with someone who will help us recoup our losses with the $4.2M restitutions that Brice is to pay.

  • I am one of the investors! if want to hear my story, please contact me [email protected]. I did the mortgage for the Pleasanton, Ruby Hill home, where he gave me the fraudulent 2003 tax returns as well as everything else. I doubt his name is really Brice Carrington at the point.

The maximum sentence for wire fraud is 20 years and 5 years for Tax Evasion. It is my immediately purpose to appeal to the honorable Judge Jenson to impose her authority to amend the prison term to the maximum 20 years. he is no less a criminal than Bernie Madoff and should recieve no less punishment.

If you have any questions or are also a victim please contact me @ [email protected]
