* Seaside Man Rojeio Cruz Pleaded No Contest to a Felony Count of Unlawful Sexual Intercourse with a Minor

A 21-year-old man has been sentenced to three years felony probation and 40 days in county jail for having sex with a 17-year-old girl, Monterey County District Attorney Dean Flippo announced Friday.  Seaside resident Rojeio Cruz pleaded no contest on July 29 to a felony count of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, a relationship that resulted in pregnancy and the birth of a child, according to the district attorney’s office. Seaside police were alerted to the circumstances when the teenager called to report that Cruz had threatened to hit her, according to the district attorney’s office. In addition to probation and jail time, Judge Russell Scott
required that Cruz be tested for HIV/ AIDS and complete 12 domestic violence classes.
