* San Francisco Fatal Shooting Victim Identified As 23-Year-Old Marquez Benson

The victim of a fatal shooting Thursday morning in San Francisco’s Bayview District was identified today as 23-year-old Marquez Benson,according to the medical examiner’s office.Benson and another man were shot in the street near Matthew Court and Rosie Lee Lane at about 9 a.m., according to police. Benson died at San Francisco General Hospital, while the second victim was expected to survive. Officials with the medical examiner’s office said this morning they had not determined where Benson lived. Police described the suspect as a man between 20 and 25 years old, who was wearing a white T-shirt and a black beanie at the time of the shootings and was seen running from the area.Police said Thursday they would keep “a strong presence in the community to prevent further acts of violence.” They are asking for the public’s help to locate the suspect.Anyone with information regarding the shootings is asked to call homicide detectives.
