* Police Searching Phillip Craig Garrido And Nancy Garrido In Connection To Series Of Murders In The 1990’s

Pittsburg police are searching the home of kidnap suspect Phillip Craig Garrido in connection with a series of unsolved murders of prostitutes in Pittsburg and Bay Point the 1990s, Contra Costa County sheriff’s Capt. Daniel Terry said today.In their search warrant, Pittsburg police have named Garrido a “person of interest” in the homicides, Terry said.Terry said he believed that a couple of the bodies were found in an industrial area in Pittsburg where Garrido used to work. Garrido, 58, and his wife Nancy Garrido, 55, were arrested Wednesday in connection with the 1991 abduction of Jaycee Lee Dugard, who was 11 years old when she snatched off the street in front of her South Lake Tahoe home.Dugard, now 29, was allegedly held in a complex of tents and sheds in Garrido’s backyard in unincorporated Contra Costa County just outside of Antioch and had two children fathered by Garrido. The girls are now 11 and 15 years old.The El Dorado County District Attorney’s Office charged the couple today with 28 felonies, including forcible abduction, forcible rape, sexual assault and false imprisonment, El Dorado County District Attorney Vern Pierson said in a prepared statement issued this afternoon.If convicted of the charges, they could each face multiple life sentences.
