A 25-year-old man was arrested in Illinois Tuesday for allegedly having sexual intercourse with a 14-year-old girl in a hotel room in
Livermore earlier this year, Livermore police said today.William Baker, a resident of Hoopeston, Ill., was arrested for engaging in unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor, lewd acts with a minor, and providing pornographic material to a minor, according to police. The 14-year-old victim entered an online Yahoo dating chat room in January and was contacted by Baker. The two eventually exchanged phone numbers, and Baker began sending nude photos of himself to the victim, police said. In April, Baker told the victim he wanted to see her, and made plans to fly to California, according to police.He rented a hotel room in Livermore, and allegedly engaged in lewd acts and sexual intercourse with the minor, police said.Baker returned to Illinois and continued communicating with the victim in e-mails and text messages, including sending nude photos of himself engaged in lewd acts, according to police.The victim tried to end communication with Baker, but he threatened to tell her mother about their relationship. At that point, the victim told her mother about what happened, and notified police.On Monday, Livermore police detectives flew to Illinois to obtain a search warrant for Baker’s residence with the help of the Hoopeston Police Department. Evidence in the home corroborated the crimes and Baker was arrested Tuesday on charges of crossing state lines to commit a felony, police said.Extradition hearings are being scheduled to bring Baker to California to face the felony charges, according to police.
