* Santa Rosa Police Arrested 42-year-old Javier Rodriguez Gonzalez For Hitting A women In The Head With A Machete Then Stabbing Himself

Santa Rosa police have arrested a man who they say attacked a woman with a machete then stabbed himself Monday night.Police went to Francis Street and Briggs Avenue in the Coddingtown area around 11:15 p.m. after receiving a report of a woman screaming and in need of medical aid, Sgt. Steve Fraga said.They found a 26-year-old woman who had been hit with a machete bleeding from the head, hand and leg. She was taken to a hospital critical care unit with life-threatening injuries, Fraga said.Witnesses said a man had attacked the woman then stabbed himself in the chest multiple times with a kitchen knife, Fraga said.Police searched several homeless encampments behind businesses on Briggs Avenue and found 42-year-old Javier Rodriguez Gonzalez, Fraga said. Gonzalez was bleeding from the chest and was taken to a nearby hospital.Gonzalez was later arrested for attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and domestic violence.
