* Fremont Police Arrest Sian Liao, 39 For Leaving Her 6-Year-Old And 2-Year-Old In Overheating Car

A Fremont mother was arrested Friday after police found her children inside her parked car in 107-degree heat, a police spokesman said today.Sgt. Chris Mazzone said passersby spotted two young children in a car outside a Safeway store at 3902 Washington Blvd. sometime between 3:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. and called 911. Responding officers were able to enter the car and found a 6-year-old boy and a 2-year-old girl inside “sweating profusely,” Mazzone said. The girl looked weak from heat exhaustion, he said.Police said the temperature inside the car was 107 degrees.The mother, Sian Liao, 39, was found in the store and arrested for child endangerment, Mazzone said. Mazzone said the woman told police that her children were asleep when they arrived at the store and she didn’t want to wake them. She had been in the store for at least half an hour before police arrived, he said.The children were given water and turned over to other family members.
