A parking dispute appears to have led to a fatal shooting in East Palo Alto Wednesday that resulted in the arrest of a 19-year-old man early this morning, a police captain said. Officers located a shooting victim in a car in the 2200 block of Ralmar Avenue at about 3 p.m. Wednesday. Joel Terrance Long, a 27-year-old East Palo Alto resident, had been shot several times in the back of his legs and upper torso, police said. He was taken to a hospital where he died. Capt. John Chalmers said it appears the incident began when two women got in an argument because one of the women wouldn’t move her car from a driveway at 2246 Ralmar Ave. to let the other back out. Eventually the woman moved her car, but then came back to the residence with a man, identified as a 19-year-old Dante Strauter of San Jose.  Long, who was with the other woman, then got into an argument with Strauter, which developed into a fight. Chalmers said Strauter then went to his car as if to leave, and that Long followed Strauter and approached the car door.  Strauter then allegedly pulled out a handgun. Chalmers said Long turned around to flee but that Strauter fired four rounds at Long.  At about 2:25 a.m. today, East Palo Alto police detectives and Santa Clara County sheriff’s deputies arrested Strauter outside of his residence in unincorporated San Jose, police said.  The incident remains under investigation and anyone with additional information is asked to call Detective Angel Sanchez at (650) 853-3144 or the police tip line at (650) 853-8477.
