A 20-year-old Santa Rosa man was arrested Sunday after allegedly shooting at the home of a former girlfriend in unincorporated Sonoma County near Rio Nido earlier in the day, according to the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Department. Sheriff’s deputies responded to reports of shots fired in the 14700 block of Rio Nido Road at about 2:05 a.m. Sunday.
As the deputies arrived they were flagged down by three people who said that a man, later identified as Robert Tyler Lockwood, had driven past the home and fired three shots before speeding away in a black Honda Civic, according to the sheriff’s department. Investigators believe Lockwood may have been upset because a young woman who lives at the home had recently ended her relationship with him, sheriff’s officials said. The bullets hit three vehicles parked in front of the home, breaking two car windows.
The sheriff’s office received an anonymous tip at about 2:30 p.m. Sunday that Lockwood had shown up at a trailer park in Guerneville where one of his relatives lives. Deputies surrounded the trailer, and Lockwood was found hiding in another trailer on the property after a 40-minute standoff, according to the sheriff’s department.
He was arrested, and deputies found a handgun stashed in the bushes behind the relative’s trailer, according to the sheriff’s department. Lockwood was booked into Sonoma County jail for shooting at an inhabited dwelling, probation violation, and on an arrest warrant for possession of a dangerous weapon, according to the sheriff’s department. His bail was set at $113,000.
