Police are continuing to search for a man they believe fatally shot a 15-year-old boy and seriously injured a second person at Hilltop Mall in Richmond on July 24, Richmond police Sgt. Bisa French said today.  A $2 million arrest warrant for murder and attempted murder was
issued last week for Mark Thomas, a 24-year-old Richmond resident, French said.  The two victims, Joseph Coleman, 15, and his friend, whose name has not been released, were shot shortly after 7 p.m. as they were walking out of the mall’s south entrance, police said. Police found Coleman in the parking lot near a McDonald’s restaurant suffering from bullet wounds. He was taken to a local hospital, where he later died. The second victim arrived at a hospital a short time later in critical condition, police said.  The Police Department is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the shooter. Anyone who sees Thomas is asked to call 911.  Coleman, who had just turned 15 in June, graduated this year from Lovonya DeJean Middle School, according to Marin Trujillo, a spokesman for the West Contra Costa Unified School District.  He was planning to play in a regional Police Activities League basketball tournament the next day.
