A 23-year-old Martinez resident was injured in a stabbing early this morning, according to the Police Department. The stabbing was reported just before 2:30 a.m. in the 1000 block of Morello Avenue, police said. The victim and four friends were reportedly returning home from a night out when they were confronted by people in a passing vehicle, police said. The verbal altercation quickly turned physical, and while attempting to flee the victim sustained seven to eight stab wounds, according to police. The victim was transported to John Muir Medical Center and is expected to survive, police said. The suspects were driving a gray compact vehicle, according to police.
