Santa Cruz police are investigating the death of a man pulled from the water off the coast late Tuesday morning.  Officers and emergency crews went to the area of West Cliff Drive near Almar Avenue at about 11:20 a.m. on reports of a man in the water and found two people pulling the victim from the ocean, police said today. The victim was taken to Dominican Hospital where he was pronounced dead.  Officers discovered a small campsite on the hillside above where the victim was found. Investigators believe he may have been sleeping on top of the cliff and fallen into the water, police said.  There were no obvious signs of foul play and the case is under investigation by police and the Santa Cruz County coroner’s office.
