* Francisco Perez Shot and Killed in San Pablo This Morning

San Pablo police have taken over the investigation of a fatal shooting that happened on the border of Richmond and San Pablo this morning,
San Pablo police Cmdr. Mark Foisie said. At 7:08 a.m. Richmond and San Pablo police responded to a report of shots fired in the area of Maricopa Avenue and 23rd Street.  When they arrived, they found 20-year-old Richmond resident Francisco Perez lying dead in the front yard of a residence near his home on Maricopa Avenue, Foisie said. Police found multiple bullet casings on 23rd Street and determined that the shooting had happened in San Pablo, Foisie said.  After being shot, Perez ran a short distance before collapsing, Foisie said.  Police are investigating the shooting today and could not comment on whether any suspects or motive had been identified.
