* Monterey County Sheriff’s Deputies Responding to a Call of Child Abuse in Castroville Find a Dead Man

Monterey County sheriff’s deputies who went to a residence Friday morning where a child had reportedly been abused found the body of a male in a bathroom at the home in the unincorporated city of Castroville. When deputies arrived at the home they believed the child abuse suspect was inside. A perimeter was established around the home at 13317 Mira Loma. One deputy, who is a member of the sheriff’s hostage negotiating team, made numerous attempts to contact the suspect. Just after noon, deputies entered the home. They found the suspect in the bathroom, according to the sheriff’s office. The Monterey County coroner’s office was working to determine the man’s identity and how he died. The child was interviewed, examined and then released to a family
member.
