* John Alan Seichter Identified as the Dead Body Found in Castroville By Monterey County Sheriff’s Office

The Monterey County coroner’s office identified today a 46-year-old man who was found by Monterey County sheriff’s deputies who had responded to a report of child abuse at a home in the unincorporated city of Castroville Friday morning. John Alan Seichter was found dead after the incident, which began at about 10:35 a.m. Friday when deputies responded to a home at 13317 Mira Loma and believed the child abuse suspect was inside, according to the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office. A perimeter was established around the home and one deputy, who is a member of the sheriff’s hostage negotiating team, made numerous attempts to contact the suspect. Just after noon, deputies entered the home and found the suspect, Seichter, dead in the bathroom, according to the sheriff’s office. A postmortem examination will be conducted on Monday to determine the cause of death. The child was interviewed, examined and then released to a family member, according to the sheriff’s office.
