* Santa Clara Scoccer Game Security Guard Thomas Anderson Arrested for Alleged Lewd or Lascivious Act on a Child Under 14 Years of Age

A veteran volunteer security guard for two professional soccer teams in Santa Clara has been charged with sex crimes involving a child, the district attorney’s office announced today.  Thomas Anderson, 75, of San Jose, was arraigned Wednesday on eight counts of lewd or lascivious act on a child under 14 years of age.  Anderson was arrested on July 24 after two witnesses reported
seeing him act inappropriately with a child during a soccer game earlier this month, according to the district attorney’s office. Anderson has been a local volunteer security guard in Santa Clara for two years and has worked with area soccer teams for about 20 years. He is expected to enter a plea in court at 2 p.m. on Aug. 3 at the Hall of Justice in Santa Clara.  If convicted as charged, Anderson faces a maximum sentence of 22 years in prison.
