A Rodeo man found murdered in his home Monday afternoon died from a gunshot wound to the head, a Contra Costa County deputy coroner said today. The sheriff’s dispatch center received a call at about 12:15 p.m. from someone who reported finding a man unconscious inside his house in the 300 block of Parker Avenue, Contra Costa County sheriff’s spokesman Jimmy Lee said. Firefighters were the first to respond, and found 33-year-old Willie Mims Jr. dead inside the home. Homicide investigators went to the house too, but for most of Monday the case was investigated as an unexplained death. As of this afternoon, investigators were not releasing any information about a possible motive or suspect, Lee said.
