* East Palo Alto Narcotics Agent Seize $7 Million Worth Of Heroin And Arrest Adam Alfonso Herrera

Agents from the Bureau of Narcotic Enforcement arrested an alleged Sac Street Gang member in East Palo Alto today after they allegedly found more than $7 million worth of heroin stashed in a secret compartment in his car, according to State Attorney General Jerry Brown’s office.Adam Alfonso Herrera, a 27-year-old Mexican national, was booked into the San Mateo County jail on suspicion of possession of heroin for sale and possession of a hidden compartment. Early this morning, narcotics enforcement agents searched Herrera’s house at 559 Sacramento St. in East Palo Alto, where they allegedly found a small amount of heroin, Brown said.Next they searched Herrera’s Lincoln Town Car, where they found about 70 pounds of heroin hidden in a secret compartment in the dashboard, according to Brown.The bust is the largest heroin seizure ever made in San Mateo County, Brown said.Herrera has prior arrests for domestic abuse, kidnapping and providing false information to a police officer. He is also allegedly a member of the Sac Street Gang, a violent East Palo Alto street gang with ties to Mexican drug-trafficking organizations, according to Brown.His bail has been set at $5 million.
