Officers in Salinas are investigating an attempted homicide Monday night that was possibly gang related, according to police. Officers responded to a shooting reported near Rochex Avenue and Claremont Street at around 9:30 p.m., according to the Salinas Police Department. A 21-year-old man was found suffering two gunshot wounds.The victim had reportedly been walking with his girlfriend when two men in dark clothing approached the victim and asked if he belonged to a gang. When he tried to walk away, one of the two suspects pulled out a handgun and fired several shots.The victim was shot in the left arm and chest, according to police. He was taken to a hospital for treatment, and his injuries were not expected to be life threatening.
