* Monterey Co. Man Arnold Velasquez Arrested For Striking Wife With Wooden Bat

A 32-year-old man was arrested Sunday evening after allegedly striking his estranged wife in the face with a wooden baseball bat at a home in unincorporated Monterey County near San Lucas, according to the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office.Arnold Velasquez was arrested after sheriff’s deputies saw a verbal domestic dispute occurring at about 6:25 p.m. Sunday in front of 53611 Main St., according to the sheriff’s office.The deputies learned that Velasquez and the woman had been married for more than six years, have a son together, and live at the house on Main Street. However, they had separated and planned on getting a divorce, according to the sheriff’s office.Following an argument, Velasquez allegedly struck the victim in the face with a wooden bat, causing trauma to her face, according to the sheriff’s office.Velasquez was arrested and admitted to the assault, and the bat was recovered as evidence, according to the sheriff’s office.
