* Medical Examiner Identifies Pedestrian Struck on Busy Road as Angel Calderon

The Santa Clara County medical examiner’s office today released the name of a 51-year-old man who was struck and killed by a vehicle at a busy San Jose thoroughfare Wednesday night. Angel Calderon, a San Jose resident, was walking in the 800 block of North First Street near Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority light rail tracks when he was struck by a female driving north in a BMW around 10:15 p.m., San Jose police Sgt. Ronnie Lopez said. Calderon was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the BMW was not injured and remained at the scene, Lopez said. The crash remains under investigation.
