A woman brought an object she claimed was an explosive to the Redwood City Police Department Wednesday, but officers determined that the woman had mental health issues and that the object was not dangerous, police said. The woman came to the front desk of the Police Department around noon with the suspicious device, and told front desk personnel she had found it in her car and it resembled items she had seen her ex-boyfriend make to blow up things, police said. The San Mateo County Bomb Squad responded and rendered the item secure, according to police. The woman, who is in her 30s, was found to have a history of
mental health issues, and her thoughts were “disorganized” and “irrational,” police said. She agreed to speak with mental health personnel for an assessment, according to police. No one was injured during the incident, police said.
