A 16-year-old girl was seriously injured in Richmond this morning when she tried to speed off from officers and collided with an off-duty transit bus, police said. Patrol officers attempted to stop a gray Dodge van that was reportedly driving erratically near Harbour Way and Florida Avenue at around 1:30 a.m., according to the Richmond Police Department.  The juvenile driver tried to evade police by fleeing the area on surface streets, at times reaching speeds of up to 40 mph, police said.  Police pursued the suspect north on 23rd Street until Bissell Avenue, police said, where she allegedly ran a red light and collided with an off-duty Alameda-Contra Costa Transit bus returning to a storage garage for the night.  The girl was seriously injured in the collision, police said. She was extricated from the van and airlifted to John Muir Medical Center, where she was reported to be in serious but stable condition this morning. The bus driver was not injured in the crash, police said, and there were no passengers aboard.
