* Newark Police Ask For Help to Identify a Home Invasion Suspect

The Newark Police Department is seeking the public’s help in identifying the man in this police sketch.  Detective Richard Lopez reports that a young boy was home alone when an unknown Hispanic male walk through the open front door. The suspect tells the boy that he is there to pick up some jewelry from the boy’s father. When the boy explains no one is home the suspect begins walking through the house. He then suddenly produces a pry tool and breaks open the locked master bedroom door. He orders the boy into the room with him and demands to be shown where jewelry is kept. The suspect then locates a small home safe and collects it. He orders the boy into a bathroom and threatens him that if he leaves the bathroom, he will be kidnapped. The boy waits a short time and then calls “911”. The suspect is described as Hispanic Male, approximately 30 years of age, brown hair and brown eyes, 5’6”- 5’8” in height.
