* 31-Year-Old Man Fatally Shot in East Palo Alto Thursday Night

East Palo Alto police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 31-year-old man in the city late Thursday night. The shooting was reported at about 11:40 p.m. in the 2700 block of Hunter Street, according to police. Arriving officers found a man lying on the porch of a nearby home, and discovered that he was bleeding from apparent gunshot wounds to his upper torso. Someone was already trying to aid the victim when the officers arrived, police said.  The man was pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting.
A preliminary investigation has discovered that the man was in the area to visit with friends, and intended to return to work at a local taxi company, but he was shot multiple times will sitting in a taxi, police said.  After being shot, the victim managed to run across the street back to a porch of a friend’s home, where he died. The man’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
